HEROES CONVENTION 2026!

That's right, at nearly the last minute I decided to drop everything and head back to Charlotte, NC for the one-and-only Heroes Convention, June 12-14! I didn't think I could make it this year but I didn't want to miss out on all of the fun after the last two years, which were great and I am sure this year will be the best yet.

Heroes is the show for true fans of comic books and the people who make them. No other show celebrates the art form like Heroes.

I will be in the same basic spot as last year, only with even more real estate and with a new neighbor, my good friend Kaare (rhymes with Atari) Andrews, who is attending Heroes for the first time. We'll be having a great time all weekend signing books, talking shop, selling prints, comics, and original art, and sketching.

I hope to see you there!

Convention Art

I really love attending conventions--it's always a joy to meet so many enthusiastic fans of comics and art and to be able to talk shop and share our passion for all the things we love.

One thing I have always struggled with, however, is sketch/commission requests. As much as I wish I were better at it and could sketch for everybody, it has rarely worked out. I suppose I just prefer drawing in the comfort of my studio where I can hopefully produce work that won't make me cringe with embarrassment. Nobody wins when I try to sketch at a show!

So this year, I decided to try something different and commissioned myself ahead of the shows. I drew whatever I felt like and enjoyed drawing some characters that no one ever requests, at least not from me.

Here is some of the art I made to bring along to Heroes Convention and Baltimore Comic Con this past year (I could have sworn I already shared these, so apologies if this is a repeat post). There were a couple other pieces I neglected to scan/photograph, including another Catwoman and a Wonder Woman, but they'll probably pop up online somewhere and I'll post them here when they do.

All of these pieces are 9"x12". I've included a few photos along with scans to get a better sense of scale. I also went overboard on a large Savage Land Rogue painting which I brought with me to Baltimore Comic Con, but I'll save that for it's own post in a bit.

All of this art was sold at the conventions, but I do have one more piece to sell and will be posting that shortly. Stay tuned!

Baltimore Comic Con 2025!

Heroes Convention 2025 was once again a wonderful show filled with great art, great comics, and great people. Thank you! I can hardly wait for next year.

If you missed the big show in Charlotte, however, never fear, I am happy to say I will be a guest at Baltimore Comic-Con, October 17-19, 2025!

I have only attended Baltimore once, and that was something like 20 years ago, so I am very happy to be returning, especially after having to cancel last year. I don't expect any such problem this year and I am already preparing for the show.

Like HeroesCon, Baltimore Comic-Con has a fantastic guest list focused on comics creators, both artists and writers.

I will have a great selection of high-quality prints (the best way to view my work--large, high resolution, and perfectly accurate color), exclusive comics, original art, and more. I'll be signing, drawing, and reviewing portfolios for all you artists out there.

I hope to see you in Baltimore!

HEROES CONVENTION June 20-22, 2025!!!

We're just days away from the greatest comic book convention in all the land! I'll be there under my big Batgirl banner at tables AA 876-878.

Come on by and talk about comics, art, and all that good stuff!

I'll be signing and selling beautiful gallery-quality prints (see my work at its best!), a bit of original art, and my Powerpuff Girls #1 exclusive comic, too. God help me, I may even try to do some sketching at the show, but I dare not make any promises.

If you're an artist--and who isn't?--I'm happy to review your portfolio if you are looking for some constructive criticism. Don't be shy!

(Canceled) Baltimore Comic Con 2024!

UPDATE: Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, I have had to cancel my appearance at Baltimore Comic Con. My apologies to everyone hoping to see me there. Hopefully, I will see you somewhere down the road!

I will have news on upcoming convention appearances soon.

That's right folks, I will be at Baltimore Comic Con, Sep 20-22. This is only my second time attending in 20 years! 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the show and I understand it will be the biggest and best ever. The guest list is packed with all sorts of comics creators and great exhibitors.

Look for me in corner booth #2215, right beside my buddy Kaare (rhymes with Atari) Andrews in booth #2214.

I'll have a wide selection of prints, my Powerpuff Girls #1 exclusive comic (see previous post), and a bit of original art available for purchase. I will also be signing throughout the show, so get those comics ready!

I may do some head sketches at the con, time-permitting, but I've been pretty busy at the last couple of shows I attended, so it may be a tall order.

So, in the meantime, if anybody is interested in a pre-show commission, I'm going to draw one here at home and bring it along. The price is $1000. Any character, B&W (or some color at my discretion), first come, first served, so drop me a line with the contact link above to make your request and I will send a payment link. Good luck!

See you in Baltimore!

San Francisco Comic Con sketches and commissions

My apologies for not posting about this sooner, but I've been working like crazy meeting deadlines and preparing for the show. I did not have the time to do any pre-show commissions this time around, but I plan on drawing as much as I can at the con, God have mercy on my drawing hand.

I've had a lot of inquiries about commissions, sketches, sketch covers, CGC signatures, etc, and I am working out a sketch policy/price list now and will have it posted on my table in Artist Alley. I'm going to offer a few different options so that I can draw for as many people as possible.

I will have four different gallery-quality prints available (A3, 100% cotton paper, archival inks) and a portfolio packed with original art.

I very much appreciate everyone's interest and look forward to meeting you all next weekend.

See you soon!

San Francisco Comic Con, Sep 1-3, 2017

In addition to providing the art for the FREE poster to be handed out to all attendees (while supplies last), I am pleased to announce that I will be a guest at the show.

As some of you may recall, I was unable to attend both Emerald City and WonderCon, but the stars have finally aligned and I will be heading to San Francisco with a ton of original art, prints, and comics. I hope to see you there!

*I will be posting about commissions/sketches at a later date. Please do not contact me now to request a commission!*

ECCC 2017 cancellation

I am very disappointed to say I am unable to attend ECCC 2017 due to circumstances beyond my control. I sincerely apologize to those of you hoping to visit me at my table and check out my art in person. I will do my best to attend another convention as soon as possible, so hopefully I will be able to see some of you then.

I will be shipping my 'pre-show' commissions, so I will soon be in touch with everyone on my list to work out the details. Needless to say, I will cover the shipping expense.

Now I just have to figure out what to do with all of this original art and prints...

Important ECCC update

First the good news- I have been chipping away at my commission list and have really been enjoying it. I'm eager to deliver the pieces to all of the kind folks who requested a commission. If all goes well, I may even be able to squeeze a couple more in. However...

...the bad news- I recently found out there is a very good possibility that due to circumstances completely beyond my control, I may not be able to travel to Seattle and will therefore have to cancel my appearance at ECCC. I will be emailing all of the people on my commission list individually shortly with more information, but rest assured, if you requested a commission, you will receive it. Unfortunately, I may have to ship it to you rather than deliver it in person.

I am truly disappointed by this development as I have been preparing for quite a while to head to Seattle and have lots of art to show, including a bunch of originals I haven't shown anywhere else. I am still keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out and I can attend after all, but if not, I apologize in advance to anyone hoping to see me, have a chat, get a book signed, or grab a quick sketch.

If it turns out I can't make it, I am planning on attending another convention as soon as possible. I realize a lot of folks won't be able to make it to an alternate show, but I hope I will be able to see some of you at least.

I will post an update as soon as I know more, and my apologies again.

EMERALD CITY COMICON 2017 and PRE-SHOW COMMISSIONS *UPDATED*

I'm very happy to announce that I will be a guest at the fabulous EMERALD CITY COMICON in lovely Seattle, WA, March 2-5, 2017! This will be my first convention in about 4 years, and only my second ECCC, the first being way back in 2005. From what I understand, the show has grown immensely in those 12 years, so I am really looking forward to coming back.

I plan on going all out with new art, prints, and goodies, and yes, I will be accepting a limited number of commissions. For all of the folks who have been asking me about conventions and commissions, this is your chance.
 -
- EMERALD CITY COMICON - 'PRE-SHOW' COMMISSIONS-

*9/21 UPDATE*
THE COMMISSION LIST IS NOW FULL. If you missed your chance to make a request, please keep an eye on this blog, as I may take a few more requests closer to the show if I manage to get through my current workload.

Thank you to everyone who made a request. I am thrilled with some of the inspired character choices I have received. Time to get to work!

I will be completing all commissions in my studio over the next 5 months for delivery at ECCC. Commissions can be picked up at my table in Artist Alley any day of the show. (I will post my table number once ECCC has completed their placement).

  • 9"x12" or larger (at my discretion)
  • 100% cotton paper
  • Color, tonal, or pen and ink based on what best suits the subject matter (also at my discretion)
  • Any character/subject from comics, animation, games, movies, literature, mythology, etc. Be creative with your requests. TIP: I like superheroes, but I LOVE fantasy, fairy tales, monsters, and so on.
  • $500
If you would like a commission, simply use the 'contact' page to submit your request. I'd really appreciate having a few options, so please provide a few different character requests for me to choose from. I only have so many Harley Quinns in me.

Once I receive your request, I will reply to confirm and to provide my Paypal address. I am requesting payment upfront to reserve your place on the commission list.

-Satisfaction guaranteed-
In the unlikely event that the commission is unsatisfactory, you are free to decline it at the show and I will gladly refund your money. I'll assume you are a nut with poor taste, but I'll refund your money :)

Below is a smattering of commissions from previous shows:
